“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.”
So begins Jude’s letter of warning to the first century church. He writes to them about apostasy, warning them of the false teachings and misrepresentations of the gospel that were finding their way into the early church.
The early church that had been birthed radically with both truth and power. What did that look like? What was the effect? Lives were transformed, society was turned upside down, nations and rulers’ core values were challenged and continents were shaken. They contended for the faith. They were guardians of the truth.
Yet even amidst this rapid movement of the Holy Spirit, many New Testament writers such as Jude were warning the faithful to guard themselves against wrong philosophies.
It seems now more than ever before that these words of caution in Jude need to resonate even stronger in our hearts.
There is an unsettled stirring of young people hungry to dig beneath the man-made rhetoric of religion and find their living, breathing God. It seems more and more Australian youth are growing dissatisfied with contemporary church culture and are searching for true intimacy with Jesus, the real ministry of the Holy Spirit and a true theological revelation of God the Father. We are our theology. We live and behave according to our belief system.
So what do we believe?
Manifest TrainingDayze 2009 is about the search for truth. It’s about peeling away the layers of Christian tradition and finding the person of Jesus underneath it all. It’s about asking ‘why church’ and learning about the role of the Spirit of God in our everyday walk with Him.
In addition to this we are very excited to announce a new initiative of Manifest as a ministry. Each year we as a team would like to support different ministries throughout our community and the world as we believe in sowing into what God is building for His kingdom.
Conference 2009 will be officially sponsoring Free To Be Kids including a special offering to be taken up for this ministry that is headed up by Benj Geerling. We believe it’s such a privilege that we can use what we have to bless other ministries.
We pray that this flyer finds you well and inspires you to dig deeper into this precious faith of ours; that when we face confusion, compromise, conformity or persecution, we may contend.
Together, let’s humble ourselves in 2009 and be people who hunger and submit to truth.
